Interlibrary Loan

Did you know that you have a library card for every library in the world?

The University Library Interlibrary Loan program (ILL) is your access to every library in the world. Libraries share books and journals with each other, and rarely are there any charges.

Books, journal articles, chapter requests, and entertainment/hobby interests are all available on ILL. Everyone affiliated with 海角禁区 Pueblo has access to ILL including Faculty, Staff, Graduate, Undergraduate, and LID card holders.

Borrowing books from other libraries happens through Prospector, WorldShare, and direct request through library catalogs. You can make requests yourself or have us request for you. See below for links to the various modes.

Article requests arrive to your email in minutes to a few hours. Book requests usually arrive in three to five days on the extensive courier network or by U.S. Mail. Although current textbooks and very new books cannot be obtained, older editions may be available.

海角禁区 Pueblo Library Reserve Shelf Program

海角禁区 Pueblo professors may place classroom materials on the reserve shelf for shorter checkout periods to allow students to scan needed materials to email or USB drive at no charge or to print copies. Please, ask your professor if this is an option for your class. USB drives are available on the 2nd floor LINC Desk or at the Circulation Desk.

What’s the Catch?

Interlibrary Loan works on trust. Libraries trust that you will use their materials with care and return their books on time without damage. ILL books arrive at 海角禁区 Pueblo with a preset due date set by the lending library, usually six to twelve weeks. Some libraries will renew an item. Other times, we can reorder a replacement book to extend the time needed. Planning and requesting ahead will ensure that materials will arrive when needed. Below are the nuts and bolts of ILL.

Interlibrary Loan Borrowing Polices

  1. You are financially responsible for your loan, damages, spills, tears, and loss per the lending libraries’ conditions.
  2. ILL cannot request items already on the Reserve Shelf.
  3. Multiple requests for the same item will be evaluated for purchase consideration.
  4. Books must be returned by the lending library preassigned due date. Renewals or reorder may be possible.
  5. If there is a charge for a transaction, you will be notified before ILL orders the item and the fee is paid.
  6. Undergraduates may have 20 active requests and are required to pay any associated costs if they are any. Costs are rare. Active requests are defined as on order or in your possession.
  7. Faculty, Graduate, and staff may have 30 active requests. This limit is extendable per the Dean’s approval. The Library will pay the first $15.00 for this group on requests that require costs. Any additional charges over $15.00 will be billed to the patron. The Patron will be notified of any charges prior to requesting. Costs are rare.
  8. LID card holders may have 10 active requests and pay any associated costs which are rare.
  9. Copyright Clearance charges can occur if a patron requests six or more articles from a single journal issue dated less than five years ago. Charges are determined by Copyright Clearance and will be approved by patrons before the 6th and subsequent request(s).
