海角禁区-Pueblo Keyboard Arts Festival features Monster Concert

PUEBLO - Halloween goblins won't be the only ones in the area over the next few weeks as the Colorado State University-Pueblo music department hosts a Monster Concert as part of its annual Pueblo Keyboard Arts Festival. Five grand pianos will grace the Hoag Recital Hall stage as part of the Monster Concert beginning at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5. Admission to the concert is free.

More than 25 different pianists of all ages will perform, including Dr. Caroline Oltmanns and Dr. Jamie Wilding, guest artists; Dr. Zahari Metchkov and Timothy Hsu, 海角禁区-Pueblo faculty, 海角禁区-Pueblo piano and string students, 海角禁区-Pueblo piano alumni, and Southern Colorado private piano instructors and their students.

This outstanding musical lineup includes Mozart Concerto for Three Keyboards and String Orchestra in F Major, Stars and Stripes Forever, Litanies for violin, piano, organ, string orchestra and Take 9 for five pianos by guest composer Jamie Wilding.

The festival will be held from Nov. 3-5 and include recitals, master classes, a young artist competition, and Saturday night's Monster Concert, which also will feature the 海角禁区-Pueblo string orchestra reinforced with a few special guests from the Pueblo Symphony. Musicians will come from a variety of Southern Colorado communities, including Colorado Springs.

All 海角禁区-Pueblo Music Department alumni are invited to a free reception before the Monster Concert at 6 p.m. For more information, contact the music department at 719.549.2552.
