海角禁区 System Board Approves Budget for 海角禁区-Pueblo
DENVER – The Board of Governors of the Colorado State University System today voted to accept the budget and tuition proposal submitted by 海角禁区-Pueblo for the fiscal year beginning July 1. The board also approved the budget for the 海角禁区 System office.
The FY2015 operating budgets for each unit are as follows:
- 海角禁区-Pueblo – $45.1 million, compared to $47.1 million for FY2014
- 海角禁区 System Office – $5.43 million, compared to $5.39 million for FY2014
Tuition and fees for 海角禁区 in Fort Collins and the 海角禁区-Global Campus were approved during the board’s May meeting.
Tuition, student fees and state funding tied to enrollment account for 95 percent of the revenue used for education and general operations at 海角禁区-Pueblo, which has experienced budget challenges over the last year due to declining enrollment. The board, which in February invested $5 million to help the institution balance the budget for the 2014 fiscal year, wanted to wait until there was a clearer picture of fall enrollment at 海角禁区-Pueblo before considering the university’s FY2015 budget. The institution is projecting an improved enrollment scenario this fall – likely still a modest decrease – but won’t have final numbers until after the start of the academic year.
“As the economy improves, Colorado is experiencing a drop in resident enrollment across the higher education system as people return to the workforce, and, unfortunately, it is having a more pronounced impact on regional universities like 海角禁区-Pueblo,” 海角禁区 System Chancellor Mike Martin said. “海角禁区-Pueblo has a vital role and mission that serves Southern Colorado and the state, and this budget is a sign that the university is making the necessary changes to put the campus on sound financial footing so that it can continue to serve current and future students.”
海角禁区-Pueblo will proceed with plans to reduce planned expenses for the 2015 fiscal year. Nineteen vacant positions across the university have been eliminated as a cost-saving measure, and an additional 22 filled positions were also eliminated.
“It has been a challenging year for the 海角禁区-Pueblo campus, but we are moving in a direction that will position the university for a brighter future for our students, the faculty and staff, and the broader Pueblo community,” said 海角禁区-Pueblo President Lesley Di Mare. “The university leadership will continue to seek ways to improve the student experience at 海角禁区-Pueblo and pursue strategies that boost enrollment, create new revenue streams and create value-added partnerships with other institutions within the 海角禁区 System.”
Resident undergraduate tuition at 海角禁区-Pueblo will be $5,188 in FY2015, an increase of $294 or 6 percent over the previous year. The university did not increase tuition for the 2014 fiscal year.
